Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups of apple juice or apple cider
  • 2 cups of cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup of honey or maple syrup
  • 1 orange, sliced (to minimise bitterness, I recommend peeling the orange before simmering)
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons of whole cloves
  • 2 teaspoons of whole allspice
  • 2 teaspoons of grated nutmeg
  • 1 vanilla bean, split
  • 1 tablespoon of orange zest

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine the apple juice or cider, cranberry juice, honey, orange slices, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and nutmeg.
  2. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add them to the pot, along with the vanilla bean itself.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Strain the mulled wine through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the spices and citrus slices.
  5. Stir in the orange zest, garnish and make it look pretty with cranberries and dried orange slices then serve the mulled wine warm.
